Acrylic Pouring

How might we keep ourselves entertained during shelter in place (and use all these empty syrup bottles)?

How might we keep ourselves entertained during shelter in place (and use all these empty syrup bottles)?

A personal project which has allowed me to explore my more creative artistic side and have fun playing with paint and my new Cricut Joy.

Amidst the craziness of COVID-19, I took up the craft of acrylic pour painting. This is a type of painting that involves fluid acrylic paint and bit of adventure. Each piece is completely unique and so much fun to create. There are a number of different techniques that you can use to pour paint (flip cup, pour, dutch pour, swipe, etc) and I've been experimenting with all of them.

My most abundant canvas is glass bottles which I get from my syrups for my Soda Stream. I'm planing on pouring on a few table tops and hopefully on a phone case soon. I've made coasters, bottles, and canvases so far. There's also a way to use the dripped paint or acrylic skins to make jewelry which is also on my to-do list.

I would love to some day set up a booth at a craft fair or possibly have an etsy page with a few pieces on it. I don't plan on making this into a full-time business but I do enjoy sharing and possibly selling what I make. Until then, I'll just continue practicing various techniques and having fun with paints.
